The Race for Life came round so quickly that it felt like I’d had no time at all to prepare. I had to dash home from work and get changed, then head over to pick up my Mum and then scoot down to the airfield where the race was being held.
By the time we arrived the atmosphere was fantastic; everyone wore pink as a sign of unity in the fight against cancer, and I was quite emotional seeing the messages people had written on their backs for their loved ones.
We headed over to the start line with the other people walking the course, and set off at a steady pace, taking in the atmosphere and encouragement from the supporters lining the way.
When we finished the course, I felt energised and happy, and I knew that having lost a substantial amount of weight has helped me be able to complete this challenge.
I’m very proud to have completed the course with my Mum, and to have helped raise awareness for such a worthy cause.
