Blog bald heads

We had a great charity fundraiser at work today for MacMillan Cancer Support and for our good friend and colleague who is currently going through chemotherapy.

Not only did over 30 of my wonderful directors and colleagues shave their heads for donations, we also held a bake sale to raise money too, and although my evening of baking had gone horribly wrong, on the day, everything was perfect!

Slightly stressed out, I started making a few different types of cupcakes the night before, ready to take in to work and sell, when things started to go wrong.

I had forgotten to buy piping bags, so improvised with freezer bags, only for it to split after I had iced half of my cakes.

At 10.30pm I wasn't in the best mood to be redoing my makeshift bag, when suddenly my cat Mischief (you can guess why she has that name!) came speeding into the kitchen chasing a fly. Before I had time to do anything, she pounced up onto the worktop, and right on top of my cupcakes.

I had reached the end of my rope, and could feel tears rolling down my cheeks as I headed to bed, leaving the kitchen looking like a bomb had hit it, and my poor fiancé who was desperately trying not to laugh at the comical sight of my cat sitting on the rug licking buttercream off her belly.

Not to be deterred, and after a good nights sleep, I got up bright and early with a more positive head on, and I remade my cupcakes ready for the fundraiser.

I wasn't going to let anything spoil my day, and although I got well into the party spirit and ended up slightly drunk at the end of the day, I had a fantastic time and we managed to raise an amazing amount of money for charity. Well done team.
