With Christmas just 4 weeks away, it's that time of year when we all over indulge with food and drink, because that's just what you do at Christmas time! And being on a diet can make you feel miserable at this time of year. Well I thought I'd give you my 3 top tips to try and avoid those holiday mishaps and keep you looking and feeling fab. 1. Take time to think – This might sound weird, but you would be amazed at how switched off we can be when someone offers us that second slice of cake, or a top up of wine.When you are deep in conversation or concentrating on other things, like trying to wrap all the Christmas presents before the kids get home, you are so preoccupied that you don't consider whether you actually want more food or drink. If someone offers you another drink or a gooey, delicious dessert, stop and think. Am I still hungry or have I eaten enough? Do I really want to eat/drink this? Is it worth it? If you give yourself enough time to think before choosing, you will more than likely pass.
2. Be prepared to party – We all know those friends of family at parties who badger you to have another drink or another plate of food, and although their intentions are good, it can be really depressing having to constantly say 'no thanks, I'm on a diet'. So when you head to a party where you know there is going to be lots of food and drink to tempt you, be prepared. Eat before you go so you feel full and can easily refuse food. If you don't want to be left out when everyone else around you is drinking, then opt for a clear spirit like vodka with a low calorie mixer like soda water. 3. Don't worry, be happy – Sometimes dieting can be all consuming and it can take up a lot of your time, if you let it.
