Kelly Jo has been following the Ideal Weight weight-loss programme since January 2014, and has since lost 4 stone and gone from a size 18 to size 8!
Working as a professional photographer, it is Kelly's job to make other people look and feel wonderful with beautiful images. But ironically Kelly had spent 15 years hiding behind the lense, avoiding pictures altogether. With few photos of her with her family in existence Kelly decided that enough was enough, it was time to take control.
I had been overweight for at least 15 years and as I'm turning 40 this year I felt I owed it to myself to stop the self-loathing. I have struggled to keep my weight under control for many years and have had a very negative body image. At my heaviest I was 14st 4lb and have been a size 18.
I chose Ideal Weight when I met Jane Jackson. I was intrigued by the plan and arranged to meet Jane again for a coffee to find out more. I fully understood the concept but had never tried anything like it. I followed the 4 Plan for 12 days at the very beginning and lost 12lb. This was just the start I was hoping for, I wanted a real kick start to encourage me to keep going. I then switched to the 3 Plan which suits my daily life perfectly.
Jane Jackson, my coach, has been pivotal in my journey. Having my hand held throughout this process has been invaluable and absolutely essential. It has given me coping mechanisms, highlighted elements of my personality that has lead to my weight problem. I have learnt an immeasurable amount of information about food, my relationship with it and most importantly, ways to make this weight loss journey the last one I take.
Now having lost four stone and gone from a size 18 to 8, Kelly can't wait to be a poser in front of the lense. I used to avoid the camera, now I have to do a double take! Health wise, I have never felt better with so much energy.
One moment that I'll never forget and wish I could bottle the feeling - I was at a meeting with a new client I'd never met before discussing a forthcoming photo shoot. She had brought along some scones and when I declined one she said 'Oh of course, you skinny types won't partake in these.'
