I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome in early 2012, and my consultant explained that being overweight was only making the condition worse.
I want to have children in the future, so this was the kick I needed to do something about my weight. I spoke to a friend of mine who had lost weight following an Ideal Weight plan. She looked incredible and told me how fantastic she felt, so that spurred me on to find out more about it.
I started on the 4 Plan for the first week because I wanted to completely detox my body, and then I went on to the 3 Plan so I could start reintroducing the right foods into my diet. The 3 Plan works well for me because I don't have to worry about planning my meals during the day, but it lets me be creative in the evenings and make myself a healthy and tasty dinner from the meal matrix.
The bars and shakes are great for when I am out and about at weekends as it takes away all the stress and worry about what to eat and lets me enjoy myself.
I have always believed that losing weight is a private matter, so in the past I have always gone it alone without any help from anyone. I realise this is where I have failed previously, because now I have such amazing support from my coach and my fellow group members, I cannot imagine being able to succeed without this network behind me. My coach is always there for me if I need a chat, and I always leave her company feeling good about myself.
I thought sitting in a room full of people and opening up to them about my weight issues would be terrifying, but now I look forward to every session. I've learnt so much about myself from the coaching sessions, and it's completely changed the way I look at food. I've also learnt that I need to stop being so hard on myself and to compliment myself more.
Losing weight has not only had a positive effect on my general health and wellbeing, but it has also made me a much happier person.
