I hated the way I looked and felt about myself. My hobbies were affected by my weight and I just felt really fed up.
Then I got engaged and thought to myself, I will feel like this on my wedding day, and I didn't want to feel restricted by my size when picking my wedding dress.
I felt desperate and had reached the point of losing control, when by chance I stumbled across the Ideal Weight stand at the Ideal Home Show Christmas. I thought to myself, what have I got to lose...except weight!
I have mainly followed the 3 Plan to achieve my weight loss so far, but after talking to my coach, we agreed that the odd day on the 2 Plan when I go to the gym would be okay as it gives me the flexibility when I need it, but I still lose the weight.
I take part in my group sessions by phone, and I really look forward to each weekly session. I have built great friendships within my group, and my coach is always at the end of the phone when I need her, even with just a quick text to cheer me on. She also sends me great articles to read and helps me with menu choices when I go out, which steers me to make the right decisions.
At the beginning, I was a bit apprehensive of the group sessions as I am quite a private person, but not only has the coaching taught me what I can and cannot eat to lose weight, but also how to change my mental attitude towards food which has been integral to keeping me going and will be extremely helpful when I start to maintain my weight.
I have learnt not to punish myself if I slip up, but to learn from it and focus on the bigger picture. I'm still losing weight at the moment, and I feel that the combination of the meal matrix and the changes in my mental attitude from the coaching sessions will see me through to long term success. I would encourage anyone to join Ideal Weight because you have nothing to lose, except weight!
